Seller Central

A first day Seller Central review in ChatGPT: sales, stock and fees

Use your Seller Insights trial to answer three useful questions, check the evidence and leave with a practical list of follow-up actions.

The best first session with Seller Insights starts with a defined marketplace and period. A broad request such as 'improve my business' can mix incomplete sales, finance and inventory information. A bounded review makes it easier to see what is known, what is missing and which Amazon report supports each finding.

The workflow below uses the Seller Central plugin. It does not require the Ads plugin unless you also want advertising reporting. Your Seller trial runs for 24 continuous hours after the plugin and seller account are both connected, so prepare your questions before completing setup.

1. Establish the reporting boundary

Ask: 'Confirm my marketplace, reporting period, currency, connection coverage and report freshness. Tell me which requested sources are missing or still pending.' Keep the same period when comparing figures. Do not silently combine currencies or compare a partial day with a complete day.

An order total, a finance settlement and a refund report answer different questions and may use different timing. A mismatch can be a reconciliation task rather than evidence that one number is wrong.

2. Review sales and inventory together

Ask for products with meaningful sales changes and the inventory evidence available for those same products. A lower sales figure can have several explanations, including availability, seasonality or a shorter reporting window. Ask the plugin to distinguish observed facts from possible causes.

  • Which products changed most over two comparable complete periods?
  • Which of those products have low available stock or inventory issues in the available sources?
  • Which follow-up report would confirm the explanation before I act?

3. Keep net proceeds separate from net profit

Inspect the available fee and finance evidence, then ask what costs are absent. Net proceeds from Amazon are not automatically net profit: product cost, freight, tax treatment and other operating costs may not be present.

Hypothetical example: US$1,000 revenue less US$150 fees and US$50 refunds leaves US$800 before other costs. If product cost is US$400 and freight is US$100, US$300 remains before any further costs or taxes. These are invented teaching figures, not a customer result or a complete accounting calculation. Avoid double counting a refund or fee already included in another source.

Finish with an evidence table and a human decision

Request a table with the observation, source, period, limitation and proposed follow-up. Seller Insights can analyze authorized data and request reports; it cannot edit listings, prices, stock, orders or refunds. Review proposed actions yourself in Seller Central.

After the free day, access to Seller data in the plugin and dashboard requires the Seller subscription: US$20 monthly or US$80 upfront for six months. For a recurring review process or account management, discuss a separately scoped service with NAVINES. The companion Ads guide explains how to investigate advertising without confusing attributed sales with total seller revenue.

NAVINES IQ provides read-only analysis and guidance. Sellers remain responsible for every marketplace and business decision.
