Amazon FBA Business Intelligence: Inventory, Orders and Stock Pressure
Use fulfillable, reserved and inbound inventory with compatible order evidence to investigate FBA stock pressure without treating every unit as available to sell.
Amazon FBA business intelligence connects inventory states with order movement and inbound evidence so a seller can decide what to investigate next. A total inventory number cannot answer whether a particular SKU is available to fulfill orders today.
This guide uses the read-only NAVINES IQ workflow for an authorized seller, marketplace and regional workspace. It explains how to ask a useful question, compare compatible evidence and record uncertainty. It does not provide an automatic replenishment decision or a forecast.
Start with the inventory state, not a grand total
Fulfillable units are ready for fulfillment. Reserved inventory is set aside for orders or fulfillment-center processes; it is not interchangeable with fulfillable stock. Inbound inventory is moving through the arrival process, while unfulfillable units cannot currently be sold in that condition. Researching units require separate investigation.
Amazon's inventory summary is a snapshot. Age, stranded stock, movements and inbound-plan details may require other sources or eligible reports. A returned stock count does not establish a receiving date, a storage-fee amount or that a listing is buyable.
- Match seller, marketplace, exact SKU and condition; retain ASIN and FNSKU when returned.
- Keep the inventory retrieval time separate from the order period and report period.
- Do not add a parent total to its component buckets or join unrelated snapshots.
A repeatable FBA investigation
Begin in the Seller Intelligence Dashboard with the active workspace and the exact product. Review the returned inventory states, then look at compatible orders or units sold. If inbound stock appears relevant, inspect the returned inbound evidence separately instead of assuming all inbound units will arrive in time.
Use NAVINES IQ GPT for a focused follow-up: 'For this SKU and marketplace, compare fulfillable stock with returned units ordered in the last complete 14 days. Show the dates, missing inputs and assumptions before suggesting what to investigate.' The GPT uses its own authorized Actions; it does not read the Dashboard screen.
- Check whether order quantities include cancellations, unshipped orders or a different fulfillment channel.
- Check whether reserved stock relates to customer orders or fulfillment-center processing when that detail is available.
- Check listing availability before interpreting no sales as no demand.
- If a report is pending, wait for its result or label that part of the investigation unresolved.
Hypothetical example: 110 units is not 11 days of sellable stock
These are hypothetical numbers, not customer results. Assume a simplified snapshot contains three non-overlapping buckets only: 60 fulfillable, 30 reserved and 20 inbound units. Their total is 110 units, but only 60 are classified as fulfillable in this example.
Assume a compatible, complete order dataset contains 140 units over 14 days. The arithmetic average is 140 / 14 = 10 units per day. Dividing 60 fulfillable units by that average gives 6 days of simple coverage. Dividing 110 by 10 gives 11 days, but that second calculation wrongly treats reserved and inbound stock as immediately fulfillable.
Six days is a scenario under these assumptions, not an Amazon stockout forecast or a recommendation to reorder a fixed quantity. Demand changes, receiving delays, cancellations, listing status and data freshness can all change the decision. If the order period is incomplete or average demand is zero, do not present a confident finite coverage estimate.
Turn the result into a verification checklist
Record the SKU, marketplace, source dates, observed states and the one question that remains open. For example: 'Is the incoming shipment likely to become fulfillable before the scenario's coverage runs out?' Review the shipment and listing in Seller Central before acting.
If the concern is aged or stranded inventory rather than low stock, start from those returned reports and the exact listing relationship. Aged units do not automatically prove a loss; monetary exposure needs applicable fee evidence and seller costs. Preserve report-specific limits rather than treating every FBA report as universally available.
What NAVINES IQ does and does not do
The Dashboard and GPT can help investigate supported, seller-authorized inventory, orders and FBA evidence. Availability depends on Amazon roles, marketplace, account eligibility and the returned data. Missing information stays missing.
NAVINES IQ does not place replenishment orders, create shipments, change inventory quantities, edit listings or act on an Amazon account. Continue from the Seller Intelligence product page or start the time-limited trial; paid access and assistance are described on the pricing page.
Frequently asked questions
Is reserved FBA inventory the same as available inventory?
No. Keep Amazon's returned inventory states separate. Reserved units may be committed to orders or fulfillment-center processes; do not treat them as fulfillable units without checking the relevant detail.
Can inbound inventory be included in days-of-cover calculations?
Only as an explicit scenario with assumptions about availability and timing. Inbound is not the same as currently fulfillable, and NAVINES IQ does not guarantee a receiving date.
Does FBA business intelligence automatically replenish stock?
Not in NAVINES IQ. It provides read-only evidence and investigation workflows. Sellers verify the result and make inventory or shipment decisions in their own authorized systems.
NAVINES IQ provides read-only analysis and guidance. Sellers remain responsible for every marketplace and business decision.
